Ready, Set, ADVENTURE!
Cub Scouts participate in a variety of activities and adventures as they progress through the ranks. Besides being fun, these activities offer opportunities for growth, achievement, and family involvement.
Hiking
Exploring the outdoors by hiking is a time tested method for outdoor engagement and physical fitness. Your Scout will learn about the natural world as they hike and improve their personal strength and stamina. We do a few hikes in the autumn and spring, these are age appropriate distances and terrain. Don’t forget the six essentials!
Camping
We love to go camping, it is one of the core Cub Scout activities. It connects the Scout to nature and allows us the opportunity to teach Scouts the skills they need to be safe and helpful in the great outdoors. We do a few camping outings every year, more are done once the kids advance into the BSA Scouts.
Outdoor Adventures
We try to do other outdoor Cub Scout activities each year which may include:
Ski trips – We try to take a winter trip to a regional ski area. This introduces the Scouts to traveling respectfully as a group and in most cases, learning a new physical skill.
Treetop Adventure Park – Scouts work on teamwork to accomplish physical and mental challenges.
Pinewood Derby
The Pinewood Derby is a classic Cub Scout tradition where each Scout takes a Pack provided car kit and builds a gravity powered race car. Each kit consists of a solid block of pine wood, axels, and wheels. Your Scout chooses how to shape, assemble, and decorate each car (some adult assistance may be required). Our Pack holds races for parent built cars as interest warrants, let your Scout build their own!
Specialty Trips
Museum overnight – The Boston Museum of Science offers Scout units the opportunity to sleep overnight inside the museum and participate in specially curated activites after the museum has closed to the public.
Skyzone – A local indoor trampoline park where the Scouts can get out some winter energy.
Professional Sports
When available we may take a group outing to a professional sporting event. These may include baseball, hockey, basketball, football, or lacrosse. From these events, Scouts can learn elements of sportsmanship, competition, and teamwork.
